La Marzocco is proud to have been one of the technical partners of Team Malizia<\/a> for The Ocean Race, supporting its mission in the fight against climate change.<\/h6>\n

The Ocean Race, formerly known as the Volvo Ocean Race, is the longest and toughest sailing challenge in the world. Its 32,000-nautical-mile journey lasts around six months.<\/p>\n

The Ocean Race is more than just a sailing race: through initiatives like “Race for the Future,” The Ocean Race wants to highlight the importance of ocean conservation, renewable energy sources, and reducing one\u2019s day-to-day carbon footprint.<\/h6>\n

Once more, sports have become a beautiful way of conveying important messages and driving positive change, inspiring solutions for a more sustainable future. In 2023, the crews made several stops during their journey, and we decided to follow them by setting up caf\u00e9s with our machines at almost all the stopovers along the route. After being present with our Spanish team in Alicante, where the race started, our teams set up welcome caf\u00e9s in Cape Town (South Africa), Itaja\u00ed (Brazil), Kiel (Germany), and The Hague (The Netherlands), contributing to plant one mangrove tree in The Philippines for each coffee consumed.<\/p>\n

\"\"<\/strong>In one of their efforts to fight climate change with concrete, targeted actions, Team Malizia has partnered with local institutions in The Philippines to donate and plant mangrove trees through a project called \u201cMalizia\u2019s Mangrove Park,\u201d an ecosystem housing an area with more than 2.000.000 mangroves planted through our joint efforts. Mangrove trees form one of the most important ecosystems in the world after the rainforest, protecting coastal areas from erosion and flooding while providing a welcoming habitat for many marine species. Mangroves also store large amounts of carbon, helping mitigate climate change by acting as carbon sinks.<\/p>\n

\"\"Last Year, Team Malizia finished third in the Ocean Race, a fantastic result! Boris Herrmann, Team Malizia’s skipper, is racing around the world once again in the Vand\u00e9e Globe, a solo sailing race with no stopovers and no assistance. We wish him and Team Malizia good luck in all their future efforts and hope to contribute to their cause again.<\/p>\n
